Vocal Lab is an engaging club course designed for young artists aged 6-13, enabling them to explore the potential of their voice using technology. This camp goes beyond basic singing, empowering participants to become producers who utilize GarageBand to layer, edit, and enhance their vocals.

In this four-week course, students will develop practical audio engineering skills within a supportive and enjoyable setting. The curriculum progresses from recording individual vocal lines to constructing intricate "vocal stacks," culminating in a shareable, polished track.

Our online courses are interactive, teacher-led workshops held once a week over Zoom, with each session lasting 1 hour. These workshops will run from the week of February 17th to the week of March 31st, scheduled every week on a convenient weekday from 5-6 pm Central Time. During each session, the teacher will guide students through exciting activities, fostering both creativity and learning!

Weekly Breakdown
Week 1 - My Voice, My Instrument
Students are introduced to GarageBand interface, learn to create vocal tracks, and practice recording their speaking and singing voices. They overcome hesitation about recording and learn to use undo/redo functions fearlessly.
Week 2 - We'll Fix it in Editing
Students develop editing proficiency, learning to fix mistakes using the scissor tool, fade tool for smooth transitions, and clip gain tool to amplify quiet recordings. They transform imperfect recordings into polished audio.
Week 3 - Building the Backing Track
Students explore the Loop Browser to add pre-made drum and instrument loops, creating musical backing tracks. They learn to layer different loops and understand how to build a complete musical foundation for their vocals.
Week 4 - Vocal Stacking & Final Mix
Students master vocal stacking by recording multiple takes and panning them left/right for a professional chorus effect. They apply audio effects like reverb and EQ, then bounce their final track as a shareable MP3 file.
