Each day, students dive into new frame-by-frame animation techniques through fun, collaborative projects. Along with exploring the 12 principles of animation, they'll experience the teamwork that goes into real animation production; planning transitions, coordinating with fellow animators, and designing unique characters!

A compatible iPad is required for this program. A rental option will be available upon enrollment.

Camp Breakdown

Day 1 - Principles of Animation

On Day 1, students get hands-on with animation software and dive into the essentials of frame-by-frame animation, starting by animating their names and through frame-by-frame guides. They will end their day by designing their own characters and bringing them to life through simple movements and animations.

Day 2 - Storyboarding and Superpowers

Day 2 allows students to flex their creativity with freeform animations. Working in pairs, they will capture themselves on film, and transform their actions into unique superpower animations with sound effects. Lastly, they will dive into the art of storyboarding, and create their final video to be showcased at Oscars the next day.

Day 3 - Classwide Collab & Polishing

The final day kicks off with a group activity where students film connected actions as reference, stitching a sequence with smooth, animated transitions. Excitement builds as they put the finishing touches on their projects, preparing for the grand Oscar-style showcase at the end of the day!
